Welcome to the Hand to Heart Project!
I am a clinical psychologist and paediatric neuropsychologist who has a passion for psychology and neuroscience. I have specialised in working with children, teens, young adults, and parents for more than 25 years.
The recent decades of scientific research have revolutionised our understanding of how children’s brains grow and develop, and the conditions that help them thrive.
This knowledge offers a fresh, empowering lens on parenting - one that helps us understand how to support our children more deeply, and relate to them in ways that truly support their wellbeing.
The Hand to Heart Project grew out of my desire to help others understand the remarkable breakthroughs in the neuroscience of attachment, developmental psychology, and parenting, and to provide accessible, evidence-informed resources for those who want to explore this fascinating field.
Hand to Heart reflects the deep and lasting attachment bonds that develop when a child is held with care and safety by a loving caregiver.

“I don’t know if I was ready for it... just the first few months of my baby’s life was like – almost like – take him back! It was so hard”.
-

“I think you’d better go to the doctor” – this is how Linda, a young 18-year-old, discovered she was pregnant.”
-

“Poor kid. He’s in the wrong family... I just can’t believe I thought that my kids would have the same personality as us."
Portraiture Photography
+ Personal Narratives
Each family dynamic and history is so unique and the growth and development of our children is proven to be deeply affected by it. The Hand to Heart project is a merging of portraiture photography and personal narratives which will communicate, and highlight, contemporary neuroscience research from psychology experts in the fields of attachment, child development, and parenting.
I hope you’ll enjoy taking a deep dive into the research, and its relevance to our role as parents, and for our children’s growth and development.
“I was inspired to create the Hand to Heart Project to share the latest research in child development and parenting, through resources that are clear, practical, and designed to make a real difference in everyday life”
– Megan Fowler, founder of Hand To Heart Project
